Over the coming weeks and months i will be spending alot of time dealing with this subject along with the arminian heresy, as many are aware these 2 subjects go side by side because the arminian camp is insistent on the supposed fact that a spiritually dead sinner has a free will?
but free to do what?
jesus said:
'Verily, verily, i say unto you, Whosoever commiteth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:34
Therefore if man is the servant of sin he is not free - he is a slave, a slave to sin.
That's why Jesus said:
'NO MAN CAN COME TO ME, EXCEPT THE FATHER WHO HATH SENT ME DRAW HIM, and i will raise him up on the last day.
John 6:44
This is because men are dead in trespasses and sins and unable of their own will to come to Jesus(the true Jesus) so man does not have a free will to make a human decision of where they will spend eternity. That's why Jesus said:
If the son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
John 8:36
Only Jesus can set us free, and he sets free all whom the father gives him.
these 3 bible verses in John help the elect to understand this:
...A man can recieve nothing, except it be given him from heaven
John 3:27
For as the father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth WHOM HE WILL.
John 5:21
...Therefore said i unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my father.
John 6:65

For now though i would like great men of old and God's holy word to do the talking.

I do not come into this pulpit hoping that perhaps somebody will of his own free will return to Christ. My hope lies in another quarter. I hope that my Master will lay hold of some of them and say, "You are mine, and you shall be mine. I claim you for myself." My hope arises from the freeness of grace, and not from the freedom of the will.
- C.H. Spurgeon

"To suppose that whatever God requireth of us that we have power of ourselves to do, is to make the cross and grace of Jesus Christ of none effect."
- John Owen

"Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do his good pleasure"
- George Whitefield

Free will carried many a soul to hell, but never a soul to heaven
- C.H. Spurgeon

"God’s predetermination of second causes is that effectual working of his, according to his eternal purpose, whereby though some agents, as the wills of men, are causes most free and indefinite, or unlimited lords of their own actions, in respect of their internal principle of operation (that is, their own nature), [they] areyet all, in respect of his decree, and by his powerful working, determined to this or that effect in particular; not that they are compelled to do this, or hindered from doing that, but are inclined and disposed to do this or that, according to their proper manner of working, that is, most freely"
- John Owen

"The will is not destroyed but rather repaired by grace."
- John Calvin;

"Then who can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God."
- Mark 10:26, 27

"He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven."
- Matt 15: 16-17

Charles H Spurgeon encouraged us to remain Valiant for Truth in this day of falsehood.
Daniel 11:32 The people that do know their God shall remain strong, and do exploits.
