1. February 14 was an old celebration to Juno Februata, the Roman goddess of sexual passion.

2. It included pairing adolescents by chance drawings for casual sex and going steady.

3. February 15 was the pagan feast of Lupercalia, celebrated in Rome long before Christ.

4. The pagan feast day Lupercalia was a fertility rite and celebration of superstitious Romans.

5. Lupercus, the Roman god after which the holiday is named, was the pagan god of fertility.

6. Cupid, an essential part of Valentine’s Day lore and customs, was the Roman god of love.

7. Lupercalia customs included casual sex, going steady, and marriage based on mere chance.

8. Saint Valentine, of which there are seven, was only a saint in Rome’s opinion, not God’s.

9. In 494 AD, the Pope whitewashed Juno Februata and Lupercalia as Saint Valentine’s Day.

10. Our Lord commanded us to come out of Roman religion and reject her sins
(Revelation 18:4).

11. Our God commanded us to come out of false religion and not even touch it (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).

12. Christians have no agreement with winged red devils that shoot arrows of lust into hearts.

13. It honors infatuation and lust: both are contrary to Christian love
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Ephesians 5:25).

14. Only lust occurs by fiery darts in the heart; love is the conscious choice to serve another.

15. Christians marry only in the Lord, and they are very sober about love
(1 Corinthians 7:39; 11:11).

16. We wish to make a statement against the fornication and lasciviousness of this generation.

17. Love is of God, while lust is of man; therefore we will only celebrate love Scripturally.

18. It is highly esteemed among men, so it must be an abomination to God (Luke 16:15).

19. We are totally committed against spiritual adultery by worldly associations (James 4:4).

20. God condemns customs of other gods to be an abomination to Him
(Ezekiel 8:1-18).

I have to send my child to public school, but I keep him home when they have their "holiday" parties (Thanksgiving is OK, Saint Patrick was Christian, not Catholic). I'm sure the teacher thinks I'm weird but oh well.

This is really helping. It is hard to stand for such beliefs.

i think this is really God. here in Uganda some churches have valentines celebrations especially to the youth in the name of helping them not go out clubbing with worldly people.
i think they should not follow the world but should help the youth basing on the biblical truths.

Anything to do with Saint Stephen, Saint Patrick or anything with the Saint title in front of it for the most part has to be of Catholic origin. I don't believe in 4 leaf good luck clovers by the way. As Christians we ought to be sober and vigilant as the Bible says. I have been celebrating Valentine's day for many years and did not know the meaning until last year. Christians do things and wonder why there is no victory in their Christian walk. The bible says my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge.

I knew it was not good for a christains to observe Valentine day when my room mate brought in a prostitute. I will never forget that night - I bitterly cried and hated to celebrate it.

Christians should not imitate people of the world. They should incline and adhere to Biblical teaching alone. What worth nothing shouldn't be called for. If the new Generational Churches of God think they are using this medium to reduce crimes among christian, they are not doing the right thing. Let teach according to Biblical teachings, so that on the last day. We will know who we are in Christ Jesus.

This is really very helpful. Recently our church youth celebrated this day by releasing balloons in the sky and by decorating the church with red n white heart shaped balloons. My mother n me opposed this act but no one paid us heed. I also wrote a letter to the Bishop and asked if it is mentioned in the bible for us to celebrate these kinds of wordly do's. I guess the bishop must have smacked the Pastor for doing this and thus this 20th feb sunday in the sermon 1 sam 9.1-17 it started of as:
"Do people know the meaning of reverends and if you know give them some respect. Todays youth is so forward that it emails the bishop directly. If u want to send any correspondence then it should be through the Pastorate committee and we know you have great english skills so dont be proud of your self. " All this from the HOLY PULPIT and in between the ongoing church. Your blog has given me the strenghtto write an article on why we should'nt celbrate this day being christians.

Thanks for your blog. I will never celebrate Valentine's Day again. It is a pagan holdiay that seduces the minds of the people, especially my mind as a single woman. I was so envious of my friends that had men in their lives and I felt so lonely and desperate. Therefore, I allowed myself to fornicate on Valentine's Day. Thank God the Holy Spirit convicted me!!. This holiday is just built on lust and false teaching. Thanks again for your blog and the comments! May God bless and keep you!!
